Heute, an einem "stinknormalen" Freitagvormittag kam das neue Video der Netherlands Bach Society bei mir an. "Schaffs mit mir Gott nach Deinem Willen..." Mitten im Alltag hat mich das sehr berührt. Diesen Choral singe ich selbst so gerne - aber natürlich nie so schön.
Ein Gebet, das mich nun besonders mit Ihnen verbindet. Und das ist wirklich mein Eindruck bei allem, was ich von Ihnen bisher gehört habe: Ihr Gesang ist, neben Gesang auf höchstem Niveau auch gelebter Glaube. Das macht ersteres für mich noch wertvoller. "Ist Gott für uns, wer mag wider uns sein?"

I should have known of you long ago, but I just discovered you while listening (on Dec. 25 and 26) to the Netherlands Bach Society's performances of the six cantatas of Bach's Christmas Oratorio. What a voice! -- so impeccably suited to that magnificent work. What struck me (again and again) was the thought that you surely must believe what you were singing. You allowed us who do believe to exult along with Bach and his 18th century congregation; still wholly relevant today. I don't know if my surmise is true; I'd like to think so. If not, you fake it utterly convincingly (hard to do, I would think). From now on, I will certainly look for you in many of your other musical endeavors. Thank you!
